Overview
This Level 4 qualification develops your knowledge and practical skills in coaching, mentoring and relationship building across professional and educational settings. You will examine regulatory frameworks, apply specialist coaching and tutoring techniques, and learn how to promote positive behaviours in learning environments to achieve meaningful outcomes.
Delivered entirely online with no examinations — assessment is through written assignments only. Designed for working professionals and those moving into coaching or mentoring roles. This qualification is equivalent to HNC level (Year 1 of a UK Bachelor's degree).

Modules
This qualification consists of 5 mandatory units — all required for completion.
• Preparing for the Coaching Role (3 Credits)
Understand the scope and boundaries of the coaching role. Examine coaching models and frameworks. Develop the skills and personal qualities required to be an effective coach. Explore ethical considerations within coaching practice.
• Preparing for the Mentoring Role (3 Credits)
Understand the principles and purpose of mentoring. Distinguish between coaching and mentoring approaches. Explore how to build effective mentoring relationships. Examine the responsibilities of a mentor within professional and educational contexts.
• Preparing for the Personal Tutoring Role (3 Credits)
Understand the role of the personal tutor in supporting learners. Develop skills in providing structured academic and pastoral guidance. Explore boundaries and referral processes within the tutoring relationship.
• Understanding and Managing Behaviours in a Learning Environment (6 Credits)
Analyse factors that influence learner behaviour. Understand strategies for promoting positive engagement and managing disruptive behaviours. Apply behaviour management frameworks to real learning contexts.
• Inclusive Practice (15 Credits)
Understand the legislative and regulatory frameworks underpinning inclusive education. Develop approaches to meet diverse learner needs. Evaluate and implement inclusive teaching and learning strategies across different organisational settings.
Entry Requirements
This qualification is open to learners typically aged 19 and above. The entry profile includes one of the following:
• A minimum of a Level 3 qualification in a relevant subject area
• Mature learners (aged 21 and above) with relevant professional management or coaching experience — please contact us prior to registration to confirm eligibility
Additional requirements:
• Minimum core of literacy, numeracy and ICT skills
• An appropriate standard of written English to complete assignment-based assessments

Progressions
On completing this qualification, learners can progress to:
• Level 5 or Level 7 qualifications in Coaching and Mentoring
• Professional roles in coaching, mentoring and people development within education, corporate and third-sector environments
• Positions such as learning mentor, personal tutor, team leader, training coordinator or people development specialist
• Further academic study at degree level — this qualification is equivalent to HNC level (first year of a UK Bachelor's degree)
