Overview
This short introductory qualification gives learners the practical skills and knowledge needed to step into volunteering in any sector. You will explore what volunteering is, how voluntary organisations operate, what it means to work as a volunteer within an organisation, and the route to becoming one yourself. It's a fast, accessible Level 2 qualification that sits well alongside paid work, study, or a career change, and it adds a recognised, Ofqual-regulated credential to your CV.
Who is it suitable for?
This Award is designed for anyone aged 16 or over who wants to volunteer, is already volunteering and wants the recognition, or is exploring volunteering as a stepping stone into paid work in the charity, community, or public sector. No prior qualifications are needed.

Assessment
The qualification is internally assessed. Each learner builds a portfolio of evidence demonstrating achievement against all learning outcomes and assessment criteria. Methods include written assignments, reflective accounts, professional discussions, and work-based evidence drawn from real volunteering practice.
Entry Requirements
• Must be 16 or over
• No prior qualifications required
• Applicants without GCSEs can study this qualification with UK Versity subject to meeting entry requirements
• A willingness to engage with a voluntary organisation or community setting is recommended


Progressions
On completion of this Award, learners typically progress to:
• A volunteering role within a charity, community group, or public sector organisation
• Further study at Level 3 in subjects related to health and social care, business administration, or education support
• Paid employment in the charity sector, where volunteering experience is highly valued by employers
