Overview

This qualification is designed for experienced practitioners and managers working in, or aspiring to lead, residential childcare services in England. It develops advanced leadership and management knowledge required to deliver safe, high-quality, child-centred provision, with a strong emphasis on safeguarding, risk management, multi-agency working, equality and positive outcomes for children and young people. The programme supports learners to meet regulatory expectations while strengthening professional competence, resilience and strategic leadership practice within residential childcare settings.

Learners must achieve credits from optional units, which can be selected during course induction with the course coordinator.

Entry Requirements

• Must be 16 or over.
• Level 2 Functional Skills in English and Maths (or equivalent international qualifications) accepted.
• Applicants without the required GCSEs can study Level 3 with UK Versity subject to meeting entry requirements.

Progressions

On completion, learners can progress into senior leadership or registered manager roles within residential childcare, meet regulatory and inspection requirements in England, or undertake further professional development in leadership, management or specialist areas of children and young people’s services.

The NCFE CACHE Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (England) is awarded by NCFE CACHE.
