Overview

The Level 3 Award in Childcare and Education prepares learners to progress to the Level 3 Certificate in Childcare and Education and then on to the Technical Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education (Early Years Educator). This qualification is suitable for a range of learners either working or wishing to work in early years education and care. UCAS points have been allocated to this qualification.

Modules

• Learners must complete two units to be able to achieve the award.
• Unit 1 Child development from conception to seven years
• Unit 2 Children’s health and well-being

Entry Requirements

• You should be at least 16 years old
• GCSE English and maths A*-C or
• Level 2 English and mathematics qualifications
• Any other equivalent international qualifications

Progressions

This is a set of nested qualifications and the progression from Award to Certificate and then to Diploma is natural and achievable. Once the Diploma is achieved the progression to Higher Education can be made. Learners can progress into various job roles in the statutory, voluntary or private sectors such as:

• supervised Early Years role.

Diploma:
• Early Years Educator
• practitioner in an Early Years workforce
• practitioner in reception classes in primary schools
• nanny.
