Overview
This Level 5 Extended Diploma in Computing (Software Engineer) is a comprehensive qualification designed to equip you with the advanced skills and knowledge needed to succeed in software engineering. It's built for people who are serious about a career in tech. The course covers a wide range of topics including software development methodologies, programming languages, database management and web technologies. It also puts a strong emphasis on practical skills in software design and development, giving you the opportunity to work on real-world projects and scenarios.
The curriculum is updated to reflect the latest trends and technologies in the computing industry so what you learn is relevant right now, and will stay relevant as the industry evolves. This isn't theory for the sake of theory. You'll graduate ready to work.
All assessments are assignment-based — no exams. And on completion, you can progress to a full Bachelor's degree (BEng/BSc) at a UK university via the top-up route, typically in one further year of study.

Entry Requirements
This qualification is designed for learners typically aged 19 and above who already have a foundation in computing or IT and want to build specialist software engineering skills at a higher level.
-candidates must typically have completed a Level 4 Diploma in a related field or possess equivalent qualifications. A strong foundation in mathematics and a basic understanding of computer programming are also recommended.
-Equivalent international qualifications are considered. If you have relevant work experience in a computing or tech role, speak to our admissions team — applications are reviewed individually.
-English Language proficiency of IELTS 5.5 or above
-If English is not your first language, UK Versity will determine your English Language Proficiency
Progressions
Achieving the ATHE Level 5 Extended Diploma in Computing (Software Engineer) enables learners to progress into or within employment and/or continue their further study, including relevant ATHE Level 6 qualifications.
As this qualification is approved and regulated by Ofqual (Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulation), learners may be eligible to apply for direct entry into the final year of a three-year UK Bachelor's degree, subject to each university's entry requirements.
