Overview
The ATHE Level 3 Certificate in Information and Digital Technologies is a 30-credit, Ofqual regulated qualification covering four integrated computing disciplines — computing mathematics, cyber security, digital technologies and emerging technologies including AI.
Ideal for learners who want a comprehensive grounding in modern computing rather than a single-topic award. A stepping stone to the ATHE Level 3 Diploma and a recognised pathway into higher education and tech industry roles. Eligible for UCAS points. Modules
There are 4 mandatory units — all required to complete the qualification.
• Introduction to Computing Mathematics (10 Credits, Mandatory)
Understand the relevance of mathematics in computing. Understand problem solving techniques. Understand basic mathematical formulas. Understand mathematical logic. Understand probability in mathematics.
• Introduction to Cyber Security (10 Credits, Mandatory)
Understand the use of cyber security. Understand how to keep yourself and others safe online. Understand appropriate security measures. Understand how to manage cyber security risks. Be able to implement security measures.
• Introduction to Digital Technologies (5 Credits, Mandatory)
Understand the evolution of computing and technology. Understand components of a digital environment. Understand cloud based technologies. Understand the importance of technology in society. Understand the implementation of new digital technologies.
• Introduction to Emerging Technologies (5 Credits, Mandatory)
Understand current and future emerging technologies. Understand the use of artificial intelligence in society. Understand the implications of change in technology. Be able to research and present information on emerging technologies.
Entry Requirements
This qualification is designed for learners typically aged 16 and above. The typical entry profile includes one of the following:
• 5 or more GCSEs at grades C/4 and above
• Other related Level 2 subjects
• Equivalent international qualifications
