Overview
The recognised qualification for experienced care workers ready to take on more responsibility. It deepens your practice across communication, person-centred care, safeguarding, mental capacity, health and safety and professional development, then lets you specialise through optional units such as dementia, end-of-life care, autism, positive behaviour support and medication. It is the standard route towards senior and lead carer roles.

• Ways of working in adult care
• Duty of care
• Safeguarding in care settings
• Mental capacity and restrictive practices
Optional units: you also complete a minimum of 19 credits from a bank of optional units, selected with your Course Coordinator to suit your role and goals. Popular optional units include:
• Support individuals with dementia
• End-of-life care
• Support autistic individuals
• Positive behaviour support
• Administer medication and monitor effects
Entry Requirements
• Aged 18 or over
• Working or volunteering in an adult care role
• Level 2 care qualification or relevant experience
• Internet access for online study
Progressions
On successful completion you can progress to:
• NCFE CACHE Level 4 Diploma in Adult Care
• Senior care worker, care coordinator or team leader
• Lead adult care worker roles
• Further specialist CPD
