Overview
A full competence-based qualification for people already working in a care role who want to prove their ability and move their career forward. Alongside the core values of care, you cover practical skills such as medication support, moving and positioning, dementia awareness, end-of-life care and infection control. It confirms you can do the job to national standards.

Mandatory units (all required to achieve the qualification):
• Communication in care settings
• Handle information in care settings
• Personal development in care settings
• Implement person-centred approaches in care settings
• Equality and inclusion in care settings
• Health, safety and well-being in care settings
• Responsibilities of a care worker
• Duty of care
• Safeguarding and protection in care settings
Optional units: you also complete a minimum of 22 credits from a bank of optional units, selected with your Course Coordinator to suit your role and goals. Popular optional units include:
• Infection prevention and control
• Assist in the administration of medication
• Dementia awareness
• Support individuals at the end of life
• Move and position individuals
Entry Requirements
• Aged 16 or over (18+ recommended)
• Working or volunteering in a care setting
• Reasonable standard of English
• Internet access for online study
Progressions
On successful completion you can progress to:
• NCFE CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care
• Senior care worker or key worker
• Specialist roles in dementia or end-of-life care
• Healthcare assistant in the NHS
